Auroras ASAP Garage Door Service installs new garage doors across Aurora, Denver and the south metro, and you can book a measure visit on (303) 985-7942 any day of the week. A replacement is a full system: new sections, new tracks and rollers, new hinges and brackets, and a torsion spring system sized to the weight of the door you chose. Fitting new panels to tired track is how a new door starts sounding old inside a year, so we do not do it.
Most replacements we handle in the metro are one of three situations: a door damaged past repair by hail or a bumper, a 1960s or 1970s wood door that has swelled and sagged beyond adjustment, or an uninsulated builder door on a garage somebody now uses as a workshop or a gym.
When replacement beats another repair
- Rust through the bottom section, where salt spray collects
- Hail dents or a crease deep enough to bind the door in the track
- A discontinued panel profile, where one panel costs most of a new door
- A wood door that has swelled, sagged, or pulled its hardware loose
- An uninsulated door on a garage you now heat or work in
- Repeated repairs on a door already past the twenty-year mark
Choosing a door that suits a Front Range garage
Insulation is the decision that matters most here, and it is measured as an R-value. An uninsulated single-skin steel door does nothing for a garage that swings from below zero in January to over a hundred degrees against a west wall in July. A polyurethane-insulated sandwich door holds that swing back, keeps the space usable, and is noticeably more rigid and quieter in the wind, which matters on exposed lots in Parker and Ken Caryl.
Beyond that it is style and glazing. Steel raised-panel and flush doors are the workhorses. Carriage house doors suit the older Englewood and Littleton streets. Full-view aluminium and glass suits newer builds and shop conversions, though it is heavy, so the spring system and the opener both have to be sized for it rather than carried over.
- Insulated steel The default for metro homes. Quiet, rigid, holds the January to July swing back.
- Carriage house Overlay panels and optional hardware on a steel core. Fits older architecture without the upkeep of real wood.
- Full-view glass Aluminium frame with glass panels. Heavy, so springs and opener are sized specifically for it.
- Wind and hail rated Heavier gauge and reinforced struts, worth discussing on exposed lots east and south of the metro.
What installation day looks like
We measure the opening, headroom, backroom and the side room on the first visit, because those four numbers decide which track configuration your garage can take. Standard lift needs about twelve inches of headroom; low-headroom kits and high-lift tracks exist for garages that do not have it, including a lot of older alley garages in east Denver.
On install day the old door and track come out, the new tracks are plumbed to the jambs, the sections go in one at a time with hinges and rollers, then the torsion shaft, drums, cables and springs are fitted and wound to balance the door. We reconnect or replace the opener, set its force and travel, test the reversal, and haul the old door away.
HOA rules, colors and matching a neighbourhood
A good share of metro subdivisions, particularly in Centennial, Stonegate and the newer Aurora builds east of Buckley, set an approved list of door colors and panel styles. We will photograph your existing door and check against the standard before anything is ordered, because a door that has to go back is a month of your time, not ours.
If you are replacing one of two doors on the same elevation, say so when you call. Matching a fifteen-year-old panel profile is sometimes possible and sometimes not, and it is better to know that before the order than after.
