Auroras ASAP Garage Door Service replaces damaged garage door sections across Aurora, Denver and the south metro, and you can reach us on (303) 985-7942 any day of the week. A single damaged section can often be swapped rather than replacing the whole door, which is the cheaper path when the model is still in production and the color can be matched. We will measure the section, identify the profile and gauge, and tell you honestly which way the numbers fall before you commit.
Three things damage panels in this metro: hail, vehicles, and salt. Hail dents the flat faces of the upper sections, bumpers crease the bottom one, and road chemicals rust the bottom section from the inside edge out.
Damage worth looking at
- A field of round dents across one or more sections after a hailstorm
- A crease or buckle where a vehicle made contact
- Rust blooming along the bottom edge of the lowest section
- A section that has separated at a seam, or a stile pulling loose
- A door that now binds in the track because a panel is bent
- Daylight visible through a split or puncture
When a panel swap works, and when it does not
A panel swap works when the door's manufacturer still makes that profile in that gauge and the finish can be matched closely enough to live with. It works best on doors under roughly ten to twelve years old, where the surrounding sections have not faded far from the factory color.
It stops making sense when the profile is discontinued, when more than two sections are damaged, or when the damage has twisted the end stiles and the door no longer runs square. At that point the cost of chasing matching panels approaches the cost of a new door that will also be insulated and quieter, and we will say so rather than selling you both.
Hail damage and your insurance claim
Garage doors are a routine part of Front Range hail claims, and they are also routinely missed, because an adjuster walking a roof does not always look at the west elevation. If you are filing for roof or siding damage after a storm, have the garage door inspected at the same time.
We can document the damage with photographs and give you an itemised written estimate for the section replacement or the full door, which is what an adjuster needs. We do not file the claim for you and we will not tell you what your policy covers, but the paperwork we hand over is written for that purpose.
Color matching, and living with a mixed door
A new section is factory-fresh, and the sections around it have spent years in Colorado sun at altitude. Even a correct color code will read slightly different on day one, and on a south or west elevation that difference is visible. It usually evens out over a season or two of weathering.
If the door faces the street and the difference will bother you, say so early. Sometimes the better answer is replacing the two lowest sections rather than one, or repainting the full door in a color the manufacturer supports.
