Auroras ASAP Garage Door Service realigns bent track and replaces worn rollers across Aurora, Denver and the south metro, seven days a week, on (303) 985-7942. A door that grinds on the way up, binds halfway, or has jumped out of its track entirely is almost always a roller, hinge or track problem rather than a spring one, and it is worth fixing early: a door running on bad rollers wears its track, and a bent track then chews through the next set of rollers.
If the door is currently off its track, stop using the opener and call. Running an opener against a door that has jumped the track bends more track, and can pull the top section out of square.
What a track or roller problem sounds like
- Grinding, squealing or popping as the door travels
- The door binds or sticks at the same point every time
- A visible gap between a roller and the track
- The door looks crooked in the opening, or one side leads the other
- Rollers with cracked nylon tyres, or metal rollers running bare on their bearings
- A track that is visibly dented, flared at the curve, or pulling off the jamb
Rollers: what is on your door now, and what we fit
Builder doors ship with plain steel rollers or cheap plastic ones with exposed bearings. Steel rollers are loud, they transmit every bump straight into the structure, and once their bearings dry out they start to flat-spot. Plastic rollers crack, and a cracked roller drops out of the track at the worst moment.
We fit sealed nylon rollers with ball bearings. They are quieter, they run smoother in cold weather, and because the bearing is sealed they survive the dust and grit that blow into a Front Range garage far longer than an open bearing does. On a door that sits under a bedroom, the noise difference alone is usually what people notice first.
Track: realign, repair, or replace
Vertical track takes the hits. A bumper tap, a bike handlebar, a ladder stored against the wall, and the flange bends just enough to catch a roller. Minor bends can be straightened in place and the track re-plumbed to the jamb. A flattened section or a kinked curve gets replaced, because a straightened kink never quite runs true again and you will be back inside a year.
We also check what the track is bolted to. A lot of older Denver and Englewood garages have wood jambs that have rotted at the base or split around the lag bolts, and track fastened to soft wood walks out of alignment no matter how carefully it is set.
A door that has come off its track
An off-track door is a two-person job and is not a DIY repair, because the door's weight is no longer supported the way the system intends and the cables are often slack on one side. We release the tension safely, reseat the rollers, correct whatever bent, re-level the door, and check the cables and drums before putting it back in service.
The usual causes we find are a snapped lift cable letting one side drop, a vehicle contact, or a worn roller that finally left the track at the curve. Fixing the symptom without finding that cause just repeats the event.
